How my heart see Robert Pattinson through “Remember Me”

I am not a movie freak. I am just a person who like watching movies that fascinate my soul. I like movies with great special effects. I like historical stories. I accept drama and romantic movies too. But on top of that I like movies that deliver strong moral lesson. If I found a movie fulfills the criteria, I can watch it again and again. Well, that’s me with my anomaly habit ^_^

I believe many of young girls and mature woman went to watch Remember Me, because they want to see the damn-hot dashing bad-boy look of Robert Pattinson as Tyler Hawkins. But that reason didn’t go for me. Almost half a year ago, I wrote a blog about the world of Robert Pattinson after Twilight. I was confident that he still can be a real good actor after Twilight, not just a temporary popular celebrity. On that reason, despite few comments from my friends, which actually able to stop me from watching the movie :p I gave myself a chance to watch Remember me. Of course this won’t be a professional movie review, because I am not the movie critics or reviewer. I only want to share my objective opinion about what my sincere heart see Robert Pattinson through Remember me.

Robert Pattinson

I have no complaint about the casts. Everybody have been chosen almost perfectly. Though I watched Pierce Brosnan all forever Remington Steele, but I found him not boring at all. As well as Chris Cooper, years of experience made Pierce and Chris able to portrayed their roles convincingly. Even Emily de Ravin whose gaining few critics on her accent can played her role as tortured-by-her-past young girl with over-protective father nicely. As for Rob, though his role as Tyler Hawkins is not enough to convinced me that he really can act, but I can say, he’s not acting Edward Cullen in Remember Me. Well, the truth is, he’s acting himself in Remember Me :D. It seemed like Tyler Hawkins was the actor and Robert Pattinson is the role he played. So, on this stage, in my opinion, he didn’t face the acting challenge.

I almost have no complaint about the story. Even few of the conversations were great, especially the one between Ally & Tyler on “I have my dessert first” It was hilarious. I can’t stop giggling on that scene, geezz, how creative the script writer’s mind to pull out interesting conversation on a dessert. And I found that Robert also has the opportunity to contribute his ideas to the script. It was great. It means that in the future he can sharpen his ability to script writing too. But I can not deny. I was a little disappointed. Not because they killed Tyler Hawkins at the end of the movie, but because I don’t see the point of doing that. (was it also the ending that Rob wanted?) What message they wanted to deliver? Remember me is not Saving Private Ryan type of movie. Why should the movie ended by letting a parents lost their two sons tragically? I still think, the movie could ended the other way.

There are many factors to make a movie worth-watching, worth-awarding and unforgettable. Good script, great actor who can deliver the role convincingly, good director who can make the whole movie fascinating, great special effects and of course massive publication. Remember Me got good actors, and of course a massive publication, but though I did have a prick of tears on my eyes, the story didn’t reach my soul and I didn’t feel the necessity to watch it again.

Robert Pattinson

Robert Pattinson, through his role as the brooding-vampire opened the huge door of opportunity to broaden his acting career. The opportunity to work with great directors. The opportunity to act side by side with senior and good actors, whom from them he can learn to become a better actor. And not to forget that he also has the acting ability, he just need more space to prove it. But on the other hand, he must be very wise about this. Because the phenomenon of one night catapulted stardom only came once in a lifetime. And he already on the highest level of fame that any actor could ever reached. At this stage, any movie with him in it is salable. But after his role of Edward Cullen ends, he will facing different group of fans. If he wants to stay in the business longer, he needs to pave his path carefully. He must avoid the generic Hollywood type of script that make him charming. Learn to make quality stories are a top priority for him as an actor. Making the movie worth-watching and not just following flavor of the month trends.

After Remember me, I will give myself another chance to watch Bel Ami and Water for Elephants, where Rob got another chance to act along side senior and proven actress like Uma Thurman, Kristin Scott-Thomas and Reese Whiterspoon. The original story of Bel Ami and Water for Elephants were very good. If the scripts were written strongly and Rob can really pull out his ability in acting opposite the seniors, he can make the movie fascinating and worth-watching. If he succeed, I will confidently saying that he’s a good and award winning actor, not a temporary showcasing celebrity.

Piece of my heart for Robert Pattinson & Ben Barnes

I might not one of the devoted fans or the fanatics, but about these two alluring British actors, I am curious about the future of their career. Because they’re both British, multi-talented, have the look that could captivate much attention and entering the world of fame through the same door, movie adaptation from novel. Not saying that I would have a chance to tell them my opinions personally, but this part is only my wish to their life and career.

I knew, this last part might piss some of Robert fans off. But I wrote this because I see things that according to my mature opinion, could impact Robert’s career in the future. My opinion here is sincere and came from pure heart. I do care about his career.

I am fully aware that, even though Robert started his acting career earlier than Ben, he was not that ready to be catapulted to a sudden fame after his role in Twilight. Rob was already very famous at age of 22, when Ben entered his fame at the age of 26 and not catapulted as bad as Rob. But I must admit too, by the age of 26, Ben was mature enough to manage his personal life and to face the crazy world of fame.

Ben admitted, though the role as strikingly handsome narcissist Dorian Gray was seriously hot, he hasn’t got it half as bad as poor old Robert Pattinson as drop-dead gorgeous Edward Cullen. Ben gets off pretty lightly.

After the catapulted stardom, Rob started to lose his personal life. I didn’t know was it because of his shy character or because he’s fed up with the situation, it was rare opportunity to see him laugh or smile during public appearance. While Ben, who was older and I believe more mature too, found no difficulties to laugh anytime a camera caught his expression. (Actually, it was difficult for me to find Ben’s picture without his smile during public appearances)

— Both pictures were taken on September 2009 —

My wish for Robert Pattinson, he could reach his maturity in time. It would be necessary to balance his professional and personal life. He will need all supports from his family and friends.

I have seen both of them smoking for their role in Little Ashes and Bigga than Ben, probably also for their role in other movies. But smoking was one of Rob’s habits that really made me worry. It was common to see Rob with his cigarette. To make it fair enough, I tried to dig more pictures of Ben off screen, but it seems like smoking was not his off-screen habits, or probably he’s good in hiding it ^_*. There were still possibilities in the next few days, I would see a picture of Ben Barnes smoking or even drunk at public area. Who knows 😀

Though I wrote once that Rob’s chiseled jaw line could make smoking and sipping beer look sexy, but combination of smoking and alcohol was not a good habits. It was a common knowledge that smoking and alcohol could ruin the beauty of your skin. Not to mentioned its impact to your health.

I don’t really know. Is it really because Ben lives healthier life than Rob, or because he has that “genes” to look younger than his age, but with 5 years of age difference, Ben looks almost as same age as Rob. Again, no offense, this is purely my personal opinion

Another wish for Robert Pattinson, he must quit his smoking habits to gain healthier life so he could stay longer and focus to his career.

I could not tell the length of time of their career or their captivating looks would be enough for their career or not. But for long-life acting career, they need more than just perfect good looks. Most of the Oscar winner actors like Al Pacino, Robert De Niro, Sean Penn, don’t have “the amazingly stunning look”. But they’re high-class actors, the award-winning actors. Their names are guarantee to a quality movie. That make them exist till today.

My hope on Rob’s career remain the same. Rob is still 23 years old, still has long way to go. If he could manage to use his time properly, not letting all the fame go to his head, balancing his professional and personal life, carefully choose his roles, he could explore more. He could even achieve higher success and stay longer in this business.

Ben, although he is grateful for the career boost, was worried about becoming famous for his good looks and not his acting skills. I knew that Ben must also explore and carefully choose his role, so he can keep his career as long as possible. But I also knew that he’s more ready than Rob, he’s older, mature and more equipped by his acting background. If he kept his track like before, he could gain his ultimate career in the following years.

I wouldn’t know what will happen to both of these British multi-talented actors in the following months. I might be surprised by their news, but for now I would be happy to follow the news on their acting career and wish the best for them.

The world of Robert Pattinson after Twilight

When I decided to share a piece of my Little Heart for Robert Pattinson & Ben Barnes, I didn’t have any purpose to compare the two British Actors and choose who’s better between these astonishing hunks. I didn’t intend to influence others to change their minds and fanatism to Robert Pattinson.

As stated in my first blog, both of Rob & Ben were rocking my little world in different times. I wish to see them acting for long time. I wish both of them are not just dashingly handsome faces. Because both actors reached their fame almost in the same year, I tried to be realistic, pouring my personal opinion about their talents and personal life which I think, could influence their career. I decided to write it separately.

I will start from my first star crush, Robert Pattinson. Rob, for his role as Edward Cullen, did so much personal work to create a character that has been emotionally dead for hundred years but reawakened by Bella. Weeks before filming, he took a transparent cocoon around himself, did himself an exploration to get into Edward’s head including writing a pained letters to his vampire father (from the Complete Illustrated Movie Companion).

Because Twilight consists of 4 books, he signed contract for the other three books, New Moon, Eclipse and (I think the decision came later) Breaking Dawn. It was great to have a long lasting contract, at least for around 2 – 3 years, he will still have a job. But in conjunction to his role in Twilight saga, Rob has to keep his youthful looks as the 17 years old vampire while his actual numbers are adding. I see this as problem number one, a dilemma of forever young versus aging for his role ^_^

Because of the age dilemma too, the breaks between movies were very short, so the film still could capture Rob’s youthful 17 years old face. In my opinion, it gave him problem number two. This situation would limit his opportunity to take variety roles. As we knew, during the breaks of New Moon and Eclipse, Rob could only take a role in adaptation movie, Remember me, because the filming needed only few weeks for filming. I wished, during the filming break of Eclipse and Breaking Dawn, Rob could get enough time to explore various roles in other movies.

Not only the age dilemma, but being in the same character of a drop-dead gorgeous brooding vampire in four movies could trap him in. It’s possible, as problem number three, Rob would take his role as Edward to deep and make him not able to get out of his Edward Cullen’s character easily.

Though he got a chance to play Tyler Roth in Remember me, but I think the role was not too much different from his other roles before. I am a bit relieve and glad that next year he would get the opportunity to filming Unbound Captive with Hugh Jackman and the rumored movie, Bel Ami. Hope he could jump into another totally different character smoothly, so after Twilight, he still has the opportunity to say goodbye to the family-friendly franchise characters and move onto different roles.

Twilight movie was a big hit. It catapulted Rob to stardom in just one night. I couldn’t deny, because of his role in Twilight, Rob’s face were shockingly famous across the universe. His fame as Edward Cullen, brought him huge amount of magazine covers and articles, and money too :D. I have posted several blogs before, about his journey to fame and the magazines most wanted couple

But I don’t see it as a lucky charm for him. On this stage, I was not sure, when directors offered him a role, it was because he is a talented and award-winning actor or simply because his famous face would make any movie worth watching and bring money to the producer’s pocket. I try to be sincere and genuine in my opinion about this.

He proved that he could be brooding, tormented, awkward, cynical, eccentric. His role in How to be, even gave him several awards.

But after that, most of the awards received were popular awards, based on votes and more to his hyperventilating appearance as Edward Cullen, not to his acting talent. More to his uber-handsome appearance, his polite demeanor, his hot British accent and his captivating charm. I still think that he could win lots of another popular awards within the coming years, as long as he has the devoted fans to support him. I know it sounds rude, but again, I try to be logic.

Rob still need to proof his talent after Twilight if he really wants to be an award-winning actor. His fame as Edward Cullen could bring him lots of movie offers. People would and must give him the opportunity to explore more of his talents. It’s up to him to decide, would he choose an award-winning role or taking the easier route of doing a work that cashes in “flavor of the month” trends. I am longing to watch his future movies, Remember me and Unbound Captive. He should win an award for his acting talent not only for his physical appearance and his affable charm.

I write so I can share what I see through my heart, my personal point of view and my own analysis.
