Han Geng, flying high Eagle with real talent

Han Geng was nobody to me. For many years, Chinese singers never been my interest. Only when I started to like the Korean boy band, Super Junior, my attention dragged a little bit to one of the only Chinese member in the group, Hankyung. I need 2 months before finally I decided to dig more about him. Starting from his law suit news till chewing every MVs and variety shows he joined. At the beginning, I only shocked by so called “13 years contract”, so I support his decision to terminate the contract and start his solo career. But the deeper I digged, I found out that the modest Han Geng is more than just ordinary guy. Though there was no term of 13 years contract, there was urgency for him to take the road of going solo.

Han Geng, born in Mudanjiang, Heiliongjiang province, Northern China on 9 February 1984 as the only child to his parents, loves dancing since he was 6 years old. He entered the Central University for Nationalities in Beijing at the age of 13 to sharpen his dancing skill. He was famous as “Han Geng who dance traditionals very well”. Traditional dancing was his forte. That forte also brought him to HOT China Audition Casting in 2001, held by the Korean talent agency, SM Entertainment. He won the competition. 3000 to 1.

A day before his 23rd birthday on 8 February 2007, Mr. Li Yu Long, the Korean Manager from SM Entertainment questioned by Lu Yu, the host of A Date with Lu Yu, the points that made the judges of HOT China Audition Casting satisfied with the ordinary 18 years old Chinese boy, Han Geng and decided to made him the winner of the audition.

Han Geng was invited to A date with Lu Yu for the first time, because the production house received innumerable messages within 2 weeks left on their message board, requesting them to bring Han Geng to the reputable A Date With Lu Yu show. It was more than a year after Han Geng, at his youthful age, 18 years, left his homeland, his parents, his comfort zone, alone with no single penny in his pocket, flew to South Korea to pursue his dream, becoming a famous actor.

Mr. Li Yu Long gave the auditions 4 points. The first point was, Han Geng really good in singing. The second point was his very excellent dancing skill. The third point — which I agree 100% with the judges — Han Geng was handsome. The last point, the most important point was Han Geng’s character. He was a kind person with good personality. Lu Yu, the host added that Han Geng was a frank and honest boy. The statement was approved by Mr. Li, Han Geng was different from all the others. He was kind and not pompous.

Han Geng received private lessons in singing, dancing, and acting, as well as learning the Korean language. Because dancing was his forte, he started out as a Class C dancer (the lowest class for dancing), but later on he went straight to Class A, skipping Class B.

After the first debute of Super Junior in 2005, Han Geng slowly showing that he has something more than just the only Chinese member in the group. I began to connect the 4 points above with his role as Super Junior member.

As a member of a group with the largest amount of member, he used to have only one or two lines in singing. Not much to hear. He got his first opportunity to singing solo on the stage of Super Show II and the result was shocking. His soft and thin voice reached its power and gave soul to the song, Betrayal.

One of Mr. Li Yu Long’s point was proved. He really good in singing.

During my period of crazy obsession, I found many videos showing his ability in dancing. Han Geng was learning traditional dance before he went to Korea, and it was really breath-taking seeing him doing the traditional dance.

In Korea, he learned hip hop dance. Totally different from the dance he learned before. I believe dancing is in his blood. He was born to dance. He grabbed the new dancing style powerfully.

I, give the highest appreciation for those who spent their time to make those superb videos of compilation of Han Geng’s dance.

Second point was approved. Han Geng has an excellent dancing skill.

Blessed by a good complexion, with his beautiful straight nose, Han Geng is a good looking young man.

Third point, confirmed. He’s handsome. Added with the heart-warming laughter, he will won the heart of many women around the globe.

One of my favorite of Han Geng’s was his first appearance in Love Letter Variety Show, hosted by the famous funny MC, Kang Ho Dong. I can’t help myself from bursting into crazy laughter every time I watch the video. Though it was his first time in a variety show, his witty and confident character made his whole part totally entertaining. You can see how the other participants laughed at their most crazy gestures.

Throughout many videos, I can tell that Han Geng was charming, warm-hearted but also witty and confident to any challenge. He showed humble gesture but gave the satisfying performance every time the hosts asked him to show his talents.

The fourth point was proved. Han Geng was different from all the others. He was kind person with good personality. He’s not pompous.

Someone said, talent can become a star but super star is not made by talent. Only those with passion, ability to endure pain and the reasons to endure pain could become a super star. Han Geng proved he has the real talent. He has the real great personality and he has the strength to endure the most painful moments. He’s ready to left everything behind and start from zero, if the entertainment industry can not accept his decision of leaving Korea. He has the distinctive points to become a superstar.

Han Geng, the young Eagle should fly high with his real talents and reach the highest of his dream, by doing solo career.

These writings are what I had in mind and what I see through my heart. My writings is just my point of view, my own analysis.
