Dylan Wang He Di, what captivates the eyes – Part 1

I do remember how Ben Barnes captivated my heart. What came first, for sure was his whole physical appearance. With his classically tall and lean athletic build – that made any outfit look good on him – completed with aristocrat handsome looks. Then a pair of fierce darkest black eyes, his long lean pianist fingers (the distinguish quality of tall guy, I guess). The last that make his appearance captivating was his heart-winning infectious brilliant smile.

The hype was gone after few years and I stopped writing about him. I only follow each of his project and he still one actor dear to my heart, until I found a young Chinese singer, model, actor, who captivated my eyes and heart with the same quality like my long lasting star crush, Ben Barnes.  I am very firm about my star crushing this time. After more than 10 years, I got another push to write again.

I need to write about is captivating packages partly, separate my thought on his physical appearance and on his distinctive qualities. This is what captivated my eyes part one.

I need to post this picture, remembering his days of Super Idol training back in 2017, and his journey to the Hall of Fame. He is still very fresh, super cute, and endearing.

Dylan Wang is undoubtedly blessed with very good looks (thanks to papa and mama Wang, for the beautiful genes), though his face was not the sexiest symmetrical shape, with a chiseled jaw line and sharp cheekbones, which usually the mark of most handsome men, but all of its parts resembles perfectly.

Shuai, hen shuai (帅, 很帅) these two lines are the most often said by his fans, handsome, very handsome. (I keep the glimpse of F3 because they are dear to my heart too)

I was smiled ear to ear watching Super Idol Episode 2, when Dylan made Lin Siyi, member of SNH48, immediately started blushing when Dylan opened his mask and revealing his “stunning” face. Her group members said it was like she’d been “electrocuted”!

From tons of his pictures, there are some of his pictures that really hyperventilating and breathtaking (please note, that I picked these pictures base on my personal opinion).

He could look cute and perfectly dreamy, but his manly captivating expression could make you wishes more than just seeing his pictures.

Besides of his good looks, Dylan also has a lean and tall athletic build. He is also a young man with a good taste of style. He’s more towards to flamboyant and versatile style, and with his build, he could make almost any outfit, from casual to formal suits look alluring on him.

The other that captivated my eyes was the way he styled his hair.  He looks good in almost of hair styles, but my favorites are his braided and pony tailed style.

The last but not least, a compliment to my list is his long lean pianist fingers, compliment to his tall build. (This one really satisfied me)

Dylan Wang definitely could win many attention and probably women’ devotion with his good looks and he doesn’t mind if people praise him as handsome (well, he is handsome indeed and he is well aware and proud of it).  But when it comes to people’s opinion about his handsome face, Dylan would only say, “I think its okay! I wasn’t really into that kind of thing

He is not letting success by good looks go to his crown.  For someone who entered celebrity world without preparation, Dylan was very aware that his good look was the first impression people see on him. During the Inn 2 Interview, answering to “some netizens say that he could make his debut because of his looks”, he firmly answered, “At the beginning, that’s true. I had nothing (A/N no acting background). What followed is the life of living and learning.

It was clear that Dylan Wang was entering the Hall of Fame and becoming one of the famous Chinese heart throb because of his – what most of people will say – very handsome face. Is there anything else that captivates the eyes?

This writing is about what I had in mind when I looked at his pictures. I write so I can share what I see through my heart, my personal point of view and my own analysis. My biggest challenge is language. I have zero understanding in Mandarin. I am surely depending on English articles and English subbed videos.

Therefore, I give my special thanks to wanghediarchive; DylanWang Daily; Merrygoround777 Wei and WANGHEDL subs for their English subbed videos, so I can get more information about Dylan Wang.

Dylan Wang He Di, From mild and humid Leshan City to The Hall of Fame

As a newbie in the world of Wang He Di, known also as Dylan Wang, it was highly necessary to find more information about him. I watched lots of his videos, listening to his interviews, reading his old and new news, even frequently took a close look to his public appearance pictures, which really candy to my eyes. What first caught my attention were his genuine distinctive qualities, which would be materials for my writings. I will start with his journey to Hall of Fame.

In one of his interview, he said that instead of taking an internship related to his profession as Flight Attendant, he was boarded the flight to Changsha and went to audition for a variety show (Youku Super Idol). Not that his parents supported him, because they want him to work. But he has no regrets. He just thought it was his time to make a decision, and that was his decision. No one knew by that time, that eventually, his decision to join the “Super Idol” was an entrance to the Hall of Fame.

The more I learned about Dylan, the more I understand the reason of my star crushing, because I found similarities between Dylan Wang and my long lasting star crush, the British actor, Ben Barnes. Like Ben, Dylan was not entering the hall of fame only by flicking his fingers. His journey to finally reach that stage of being famous was quite long and not easy.

Back to 2017 when Dylan joined a Youku Reality show competition “Super Idol”, because of his lack of confident, he was on the brink of elimination at the first round. In order to stay, he must wear a mask and only can take it off when he won a challenge. Though he was angry, threw the mask on the floor, feeling humiliated, it was He Jiong (Television host, singer, actor, director and a former Arabic lecturer in Beijing Foreign Studies University) who consoled him and encouraged him to stay. At the end of episode 10, he emerged as the final winner.

Upon his unexpected victory, he remembered He Jiong’s encouragement, “Perhaps wearing a mask will give you a push. Please don’t give up on the hot point we added to you.”

Dylan expressed his gratitude.

This place, [Super Idol] is the place where I was born. If there wasn’t Super Idol, then there would be no me. My growth and my improvement were all due to the two Teachers He who love us and also due to my other companion.”

But was it really because he’s talented, so he won that competition? Is there any real talent along with his good looks and charming personality? I found his journey from the first episode of Super Idol amusing. He grew from someone who’s not confident because of his non-acting background, forced to wear a mask to cover his good looks, into someone who believes that acting is what he really wants.

One of his distinctive qualities that caught my attention was how he responded to a question about him being the only one participant who has no acting background. Would he feel that as disadvantage?

“Maybe if I compare myself to them, then my advantage would be that I have no training. It’s that I’m a blank piece of paper. I have more space on that piece of paper to draw more things. Now, I’m taking advantage of this opportunity to take some of the outlines and set a foundation on the blank paper. Being a blank piece of paper is my strength as well as my shortcoming.”

In my opinion, though he’s only 19 years old that time, he already seen the glass as half full, describing his optimism.

In the same year, he was picked by the producer of the original and current remake of Meteor Garden, Angie Chai to play the titular role as Dao Ming Si. But it was not one direct decision. Angie Chai has dilemma when it comes to a decision. The main requirement was all the boys should have certain height (A/N: 185cm) and he was the shortest among the other member of F4 (Connor and Caesar were both 186 cm and Darren was 184 cm). Dylan was “only” 183cm in height.

It’s quite difficult to find a picture that really showed their height difference, but I do love this one with Angie Chai and Shen Yue.

On the other hand, Angie was also contemplating whether to choose one with good acting skills or one with good looks. When she saw Dylan, she decided to choose the good-looking one. It seems like his good looks was his lucky card. He was selected from 30 thousands candidates from various universities in Taipei, Hong Kong, Singapore and Los Angeles (I really don’t know whether this info is exaggerating or not, but if that what was happened, it surely surreal)

But it was not just that, Dylan realized he has to find way to prove himself.

“But I feel that I was working hard and learning on the set, step by step, I believe she can see that. When we wrapped up filming, I feel that she watched me grow and improved.”

That statement answered what Angie Chai thought about him being Dao Ming Si “He has a strong aura, and his eyes are also fierce and speak.” (Go watch the short video he acted as Dao Ming Si in one of the memorable scene from Meteor Garden 2001). She considered that Dylan was very fitting for playing the role of the F4 gang leader. Dylan was able to appear convincing even though he was still very young and had no acting experience.

And yes, though Meteor Garden remake received mixed reviews, but for sure the role of Dao Ming Si has propelled him to international stardom. I may say, for someone with no acting background, he almost perfectly nailed his role.

This will be end of the story about his journey. He already entered the Hall of Fame. Then another question bothers me, would his package be enough to make him a good and award-winning actor? Would his name becoming a guarantee for great movies? How long can he stay in this business? My next writing will be on what is in his package. His appearance, his talents and his personality, which I think could be strong points of being a great actor.

These are what I had in mind when I looked at his pictures. I write so I can share what I see through my heart, my personal point of view and my own analysis. The biggest challenge is language. I have zero understanding on Mandarin. I am surely depending on English articles and English subbed videos.

Fandom World – Introduction to Dylan Wang He Di

Fandom world was a new thing for me many years ago. I started my first with Twilight followed with few other actors and singer and lasted with Ben Barnes from Narnia in 2010. Probably, this is another phase in my magical fandom world. My fungurling (not fangirling, of course) only happened once in a blue moon. And when it happens, I will have a strong urge to write, because my heart can’t content the excitement.

It was Kris Sun Zu Jun of The Sweet Girl actually, who brought me to this fandom. In searching for Kris’ other drama, I found Ever Night 2. I spent many hours to look at the trailers and BTS (behind the scene) videos and got my eyes nailed to the Male Lead. From there, I changed my direction. (No loyalty involved, when it comes to fungurling)

First, think of this. You see a picture of a male, blessed with a straight nose, a pair of big friendly dark brown eyes, which sometimes twinkled by excitement, lips to hide a set of dazzlingly white, perfectly straight teeth, which he flashes frequently in a bright smile that could lift your heart. For sure, he is nice to look at.

Within the last few weeks, my attention was fully dragged to a new star crush. This writing will be the first of Dylan Wang’s blog series.

Wang He Di (王鹤棣), also known as Dylan Wang was born in Leshan City, Sichuan Province on December 20, 1998. A Chinese actor, singer and model.

He was a 16th-level flight attendant and poster model for admission at Sichuan Southwest College of Civil Aviation, and also became a professional image spokesperson for flight attendants, before debuting in the show business.

In 2016, he won the first annual championship of the Sichuan Campus Reds Festival; a ceremony sponsored by several universities and colleges, and officially entered the entertainment industry.

In June 2017, Wang participated in the Youku variety show Super Idol hosted by He Jiong, and emerged as the final winner. In the same year, he was picked by the producer of the original and current remake of Meteor Garden, Angie Chai to play the titular role as Dao Ming Si, which propelled him to fame internationally.

In November 2018, Dylan appeared as the youth ambassador at Le Tour De France Skoda Shanghai Criterium at China Arts Museum south square. He left a very deep impression to Tour de France Committee. They felt that his aura and other aspect are very suitable. The Committee especially likes him. As soon as they saw him, they felt he was especially youthful and he has the aura they want and his ability to attract young people.

Dylan is indeed a fan of basketball, and a notable player (for me). He is idolizing LeBron James of LA Lakers. Because of his ability to play, he was chosen to participated in the Super Penguin Basketball Celebrity Game hosted at the Shanghai Oriental Sports Center and becoming the youngest “Captain Ball” for Super Penguin Basketball Celebrity 2018. He was apart of the Red team who won the game at 56–45 points.

I think it is enough for the introduction. Though I fond of Dylan much these days and don’t know how long his spell will bundle me, I know one thing for sure, his looks won’t be enough to keep me as a loyal fan. I still need to find more quality on him. I still need to write about his personality and his acting ability from time to time, because I think, Dylan is not just another pretty face showcasing actor. He’s also talented and has good personality. It is amusing to find facts about him that could be the reasons for longer period of fungurling. My next blog will be on his talents and his personality, which I think could be strong points of being a great actor.

These are what I had in mind when I looked at his pictures. I write so I can share what I see through my heart, my personal point of view and my own analysis. The biggest challenge is language.
